Reflections of My Fall Semester Internship

Last semester I did quite a good job with every task that was assigned to us interns. I think with all the assignments that were assigned to me I did a good job. Everything I had to do, I gave my absolute best effort on it. I do believe I procrastinated a lot on the when to do the assignments. I always got them done, it just took some time to get it done. I really enjoyed visiting my field site, and to see all the kids faces. I enjoyed seeing my mentor teach a lesson and just observing his techniques with the children and how he gets through to them. The changes I would like to make with myself is just be more authoritative and take more action in my field site do more things, be more hands on. I want to take more initiative in the things I do, and just have more control.

Reflections of a Fourth Grade Intern!

This year being a fourth grade intern has been such a spectacular experience.  I have gained a lot of information on how it is being a teacher and what they have to do.  I remember one day walking into my fourth grade classroom, my field site teacher; Mr. Hopkins had a lesson planned that involved students cutting paper into certain arrays and then go near the lockers and put them under the correct label the array may fit under. After they got through with that, they had a plastic bag filled with magnets and they were instructed to go around the classroom and find things that are attracted to the magnet. The lesson plan that day was not only fun and active; Mr. Hopkins used all the different methods some students learn best from. Such as if some of the students were kinesthetic, they got to move around the room, or some of the students being visual or auditory learners. He used all of those teaching styles some of the students might have. When Mr. Hopkins teaches a lesson, he gets the students engaged by keeping the students entertained. He has a competition going on between his classroom and another class. Whoever wins the competition get some sort of prize, so it makes the students dedicated and motivated to win and at the same time they are learning. Learning all of this in one semester just makes me anxious on what's to come next semester. We're looking at a great year and I can't wait to go back!

The Ideal Classroom

I believe when I become a teacher my classroom will look like the ordinary classroom as of today. The only difference would be that the desk I have will be cherry wood but they will also be big enough to have space to work and hold a laptop that may be provided by the school. The chairs will be comfortable nice and relaxed like in Lewisville ISD except mine will be able to roll around in. My students will need a hard surface to write on to do their math problems.
