Should Santa Be Allowed To Come To School?

The federal law talks about how the holidays should not only be about one type of religion. That teachers should experiment and practice with other religions. Show the meaning of the other religions and what they are all about. If BISD adopted this stance that Fort Worth ISD did these are some of the ways it may affect us or what may happen if we did take on that rule.

The Change In My Field Site
  • Santa Clause not allowed in the classroom.
  • Children can no longer write letters to Santa.
  • Santa is only allowed in the lobby, auditorium, or lunch.
  Activities/Events Cut Out
  • Children can no longer write letters to Santa.
Elementary schools will still be able to participate in the PTA parties held before and after school. My solution to The "December Dilemma" I would find activities, come up with lesson plans that revolve around different religions and what they do for the holidays and not just Christians. I would practice with other religions and show the kids what they are like.

Favorite Internet Teaching Resource Site

There is a new site that I have been shown in class a few days ago that I extremely like. Once you get on the site and you are there for whatever reason, whether it be a lesson plan or unit plans or activities. There is a search bar so you can find whatever it is you specifically want. I selected The Scholastic site over the others because it seems more organized to me than the other ones and I only want to look at one thing specifically and I can do that with the search bar and filtering it.

Procrastination!

Something I have been putting off or if I ever have been in that situation. I have been putting off my Dialectical Journal for AP English III. The journal is about the Scarlet Letter and a worksheet that goes over it. The consequences is you are stressed out when you are doing it last minute and its a lot of work so you are really stressed out and trying to get it done. Its really a pain, you have to manage your time way more better than usual so that doesn't happen again. Better to do things earlier than last minute so you can be stress free!

Week 3

At my field site this week, I helped out a student on their work and explained how to do it. We were going over a math worksheet about symmetry. I took leadership by demonstrating how to solve the problem and help the student find the right answer.

Week 2!

My second week at my field site, was a great week! I selected a student to watch and observe what kind of learner they are. The student I watched was very energetic and liked to move around.  During recess the student would just run all over the place and be very interactive with other children. When we headed back towards the classroom the assignment was to build stuff with two wires and a battery. While watching the student, that student was the first to grab the bag and take out the supplies and started right away. So my opinion on the student I watched was a kinesthetic learner. The student also listened very well but the student liked moving a lot more.

Getting To Know My Field Site!

The first two days at my field site I learned that my teacher always keeps the light off to have a relaxed setting. It is much calmer and the kids are at ease. I also learned that my teacher, Mr. Hopkins is a longhorns fan..a big one, he graduated form The University of Texas at Arlington! He has his desks for the children in groups of 5 or 4. He uses a projector for when he teaches math. The most exciting part about being at my field site was actually helping out a child with math. It probably was the best feeling ever, it was exciting!  The activities he used for math was a competition, there were two teams the Longhorns and the Spartans. For each question they got right they would get  point, so when he did that it just made it interesting and fun! I enjoyed being at my field site!

How to do better on Image Scrimmage!

Demonstrate How to Read a Book.
If I were to read a book again, I would pace myself and go a little slower and take my time while reading. I would also get more into the book and change the tone in my voice to keep the readers interested. I would also speak a little louder than I already did. I would also read the illustrators name and not just the authors. Overall I would just get more into character while reading the book.

What Technology Will Look Like In My Classroom!

Technology for my classroom for when I am teaching will not be much different as it is today. I believe when I am teaching I will use a LCD Projector, I will have graphing calculators for each of my students to be able to take home, each child will be issued a calculator, if they have homework they will be able to do it at home because they would have a graphing calculator, if needed.

What Facebook Does To Kids Brains

The stuff they have listed as 'good' for  Facebook is all true. Facebook does make it easier to make friends and it does no matter on what race he/she may be. The stuff that they listed as Facebook being 'bad', is partially true. Facebook can be addicting and very distracting but you must set a schedule and have the self control to get off it. Facebook can not be determined as bad because it doesnt prepare kids for real-life talking. Kids who choose to talk slang that is there choice, but Facebook can be helpful in many ways as for real-life talking. If they think its easy talking to people on Facebook maybe they will think its easy to talk to them in person.
